About Fiasco Wines

Fiasco Wines is a small, family based wine label owned by ‘born and bred’ Marlburians Aaron and Jacinda Thompson. While Aaron makes the wine, he and Jacinda work together to market the end product. However, the real Fiasco team is a much bigger community: Fiasco Wines encourages all their customers to be a part of the winemaking journey through their blog (www.fiascowines.wordpress.com ) and through the use of Facebook and Twitter. If you have access to the internet you can follow the process from the vineyard, through to harvest and bottle; you can join in online tastings of new wines and can even help with wine-making and marketing decisions! “We want to get to know our customers, to celebrate the dynamic nature of wine making with them and to share a good laugh at our fiascos along the way!”

Fiasco Wines is a little different to the crowd which is why yet another landscape based wine label was out of the question. Their message is one of fun and of keeping things real and human: “Producing wine in Marlborough can be chaotic - with unpredictable weather, new technologies and rapid expansion to grapple with. And then there is the vibrant human factor - so many folk of all ages and nationalities play a part in making the wine. It can certainly be a fiasco. Life and making wine is often a balancing act, hence the logo of a character running on a wine barrel while holding a glass of wine.”

Fruit is sourced locally with the majority harvested from 'Stembridge', a pioneer vineyard down Blicks Lane established in the seventies by Jacinda's parents, Max & Marita Gifford. Jacinda and Aaron live on the vineyard with their three children, Tahlia, Finn and Archie.
