About Kerner Estate Wines Ltd
In 1992 Bruce and Joanne Kerner went on a family vacation to New Zealand….and, basically, never came back.
They fell in love with the country, the people, the life, the literature and decided to move there one day.
Bruce returned in 1995 and after a long look at both islands, decided Marlborough was the place to buy land…and a vineyard would be their future.
Bruce drove to the edge of town, where people were not sure grapes would grow, bought their land and planted the 26-acre vineyard and olive grove. In fact, the grapes grew very well-- Kerner Estate produces Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, Savignon Blanc,Chardoney and this year, they harvested their first vintage of Pinot Noir.
While Joanne produced sit coms and Bruce oversaw production for Big Ticket Television and Viacom productions in Los Angeles, both took courses from UC Davis and UCLA to learn about importing, wine making , viticulture, marketing, and so on.
Now, fifteen years and four harvests later, Kerner Estate wines are enjoying a place on some of the best wine lists in Auckland, San Francisco and New York!
