This has been a personal passion of winemaker CP Lin for a number of years. He instigated the planting of noble varieties of Alsace in 2003 at Mountford Estate and has been a devotee of Alsatian wines for many years and wanted to make a Hommage to them. Before the German influence of Alsace became dominant, the Old Alsatian wines were made in a similar way to other parts of France. Their varieties were not mentioned and the grapes were picked at the same time from a designated vineyard site and then vinified together; Bordeaux and Southern Rhone are good examples. CP’s idea was to make a wine from the four Cepage Noble of Alsace in the traditional Vin de Terroir method. Marcel Dyss is the producer who inspired CP in this concept. More

Not a complicated wine but one that undoubtedly has a good market and will please many. The very floral aromas of violets, ginger and lychees are replicated in the palate with good weight. Certainly off-dry but not sweet and ideal as an aperitif. As our male judge put it - 'girly but good!' More

Very interesting - lets start with the review of the wine. Pale straw in colour with stonefruit aromas. Peaches are prevalent on the palate where there is pleasant ripe fruit sweetness. Easy drinking and very pleasant. And now the kicker - this wine came in a 75cl PLASTIC bottle. It is aimed at the stadium and festival market where it has proved very popular.; but has also been very successful with boaties and hikers due to its lack of weight. Certainly the wine tasted plenty good enough - the future? More
