Based around the 1998 vintage. Gentle pressing of hand picked grapes and a long, cool secondary fermentation in our cellars has helped to produce a methode champenoise of elegance and finesse. Bald Hills 'Last Light' Riesling 2009
Central OtagoRiesling
Very young but definitely a wine with potential. The delicate lemon and lime aromas expand in the palate where they are joined by a mineral backbone and bold acidity. Just needs to settle down a little. More

Bald Hills 'Pigeon Rocks' Pinot Gris 2009
Central OtagoPinot Gris
This wine has a velvety texture and bold pear and spice flavours that are beautifully offset by the dry style. Excellent now, and if past experience is anything to go by, better in the future. Put some in the cellar. More

Carrick Riesling 2009

Floral with a touch of kerosene on the nose. In the palate there are sweet tropical fruits with fresh zingy acidity. To finish there is a hint of residual sugar making the style off-dry. Very enjoyable and decent value. More

Dawn Ghost Pinot Gris 2009
Central OtagoPinot Gris
The 2009 Dawn Ghost Pinot Gris shows peach, apricot, pear and stone fruit on the nose. Ripe pineapple and lively acidity will be sensed in the mouth giving his length to the wine. The nice weight and long finish with a few grams of residual sugar make it an easy drinking and very appealing wine. This is a fresh, ripe and well balanced Pinot Gris. Enjoy it by itself or in combination with a wide range of fine food. More

Other Reds
Judge Rock St. Laurent 2009
Central OtagoOther Reds
St. Laurent is a highly aromatic dark-skinned grape from the same family as Pinot Noir. It originates in France but is now mainly found in Austria. It is not an easy grape to grow but it appears to be a labour of love for Judge Rock. This is the first vintage available to the public and it is promising. The aromatic characteristics of the grape are already coming through and there is some decent red berry fruit as well. As yet the tannins are somewhat coarse and grippy but we would urge you to get a bottle of two and see how it develops. Interesting. More

Mondillo Pinot Noir 2009
Central OtagoPinot Noir
The Mondillo wines from Bendigo in Central Otago are creating quite a name for themselves. This latest Pinot Noir is at least as good as any of its predecessers. Yes it is very young BUT it already displays beautiful berry aromas with wonderful fruit weight, sweetness and concentration combined with bold oak and silky tannins. If this does not win multiple gold medals then we will eat our collective hats! More

Riesling
Mondillo Riesling 2009
Central OtagoRiesling
Possibly the Riesling with the most potential in this tasting as it has particularly good fruit concentration in the palate. However, as yet, these citrus and kerosene characters are subdued by the tart, slightly bitter acidity. This will DEFINITELY lessen in time. More
