Notable Wine Visitors to Central Otago
An influx of industry heavy weights from New Zealand’s key international wine markets are set to visit the Central Otago region over the next two weeks as guests of Central Otago Pinot Noir Ltd (COPNL). The contingent of international wine media are attending the NZ Pinot Celebration in Wellington and ensuring they visit the Central Otago Region.
Selected wine producers in the region will have the opportunity to profile emerging wine styles as well as present the region’s most famous varietal – Pinot Noir, in conjunction with a series of tastings and seminars.
“It’s not often that we host such a diverse range of influential visitors to our region. We are eager to show them our stunning region whilst showcasing some of our outstanding and premium wines” said Rudi Bauer, Chairman of the COPNL Board and winemaker for Quartz Reef.
A trip to Central Otago would not be the same without a dose of adrenalin and one of the highlights during some of the visits will include a helicopter excursion where COPNL will show off the breathtaking region and point out the various wine sub regions.

• Oz Clarke; one of the world’s leading wine commentators based in the UK
• Tim Atkin, Master of Wine; one of Britain’s leading wine writers and an internationally recognised expert on wine
• Anthony Gismondi; Canada’s most influential wine critic and editor-in-chief at Wine Access
• Joe Czerwinski; Senior Editor and Tasting Director for Wine Enthusiast Magazine based in the USA
• Neal Martin; wine writer responsible for reviewing New Zealand wine within Wine Advocate and its associated website, www.erobertparker.com.
• Curtis Marsh; an independent wine writer, commentator and presenter in Asia based in Singapore.
