| About
Alana Estate |
|
Tucked in against the terrace slope, below the vines, is the winery itself. Designed in three levels, the winery's top level is where the newly harvested grapes are brought in for hand sorting.Under the natural force of gravity the grapes fall down to the fementation tanks. From here the wine flows on to the third and lowest level, which houses the French oak barriques and winery hospitality areas. This gravity-assisted process means no pumps or artificial means are needed to move the wine from one place to another, removing unnecessary stress on the wine.

Benfield & Delamare
One of New Zealand's smallest producers, Benfield & Delamare could also be regarded as one of the most consistent, with a string of top flight vintages dating back to 1990. They are unusual too in that they specialise in a single wine from Merlots and Cabernets to craft their elegant yet full bodied red. |
