| Fortified Wine | 
| Fortified wine is wine that has had spirit (usually brandy) added to it to make it stronger. Sometimes this spirit is added to stop fermentation and leave the wine sweet eg. port. Other times it is added to make the wine stronger and better suited to shipping to distant markets eg. sherry. There are a wide range of techniques for adding spirit to wine to make fortified wine, and an equally wide range of styles from red to white and dry to sweet. The one thing all fortified wines have in common is their alcoholic strength.

Black Hamburg grapes established in 1937 on the Estate vineyard by the overhanging arbor are made into naive port base and aged to full maturity on oak and totara casks for final blending which averages 10 years old. |

The port is a pale tawny colour with a rich, sultana nose. The palate is raisiny, sweet, creamy and soft with a long lingering finish. |

The palate is rich and vibrant displaying ripe spicy fruit, toffee and walnuts framed by smoky oak with a lifted cleansing finish. The nose is lifted with an attractive mix of dried fruit, vanilla, caramel and a touch onf nutty aged rancio complexity. Amber brown in colour with a dark red rim. |
