Bordeaux Style

Classically Bordeaux wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. In New Zealand Bordeaux Style is taken as a combination of two or more of these varieties with Malbec sometimes being added. Cabernet Sauvignon is undoubtedly the dominant grape in the combination and as 75% of its plantings are around Auckland this is most Bordeaux Style wines originate.

Winemakers Notes
Fermentation of this wine took place in small batches using manual push down of the cap as well as pumping over. After pressing, the different batches were matured in French and American oak barriques for 12 months prior to blending and bottling. We have created a fruit driven red wine with good depth of palate and structure. Very little fining was done to allow the wine to age well.
